Antony and The Johnsons, anyone?
The art rock group Anthony and The Johnsons is having a gig at Kultturitalo here in Helsinki. I’m thinking about going, there seems to be some tickets still available. If there happens to be other interested, please drop me a line to have a little gathering and let’s go listen some exceptionally beautiful music.
(“Hitler In My Heart”)
A guest star in tiki bar…
Bwah, what an episode! Don’t miss it. Go here. (He’s having a beer, unsurprisingly :)
(“and shake it”… oh man was I rolling, like otf & lmao)
QotD by P. Williams
She knows the time she sees the richard mille,
Flat double skeletal tourbillon
Its just like her body—move, it turns her on.
— Pharrell Williams in ‘Can I Have It Like That,’ 2005
Although Mr. Williams may consider the Milles as a ladies’ watch, I regard also the males’ range as pretty impressive. Though, Richard Mille doesn’t make exactly double tourbillon watches, but let’s just account that on artistic freedom.
However, my granny is still in a pretty strong shape and she’s also rather well behaving; would there be anyone kind enough to trade one of the Milles for her? Delivery included!
Google getting ordinary
Robert takes a tour in the Google’s Kirkland office and the place definitely looks very different from what is used to see from Google. Even alarmingly so, I would say. I know that at Google they are highly aware of their own doings;
I’m just presenting a humble and unauthoritative opinion here. Disclaimer done, let’s get on with it…
The office looks very ordinary, but still they’ve tried to make it a bit googly. I think that ‘Wall of Fame’ (pictured left) captures the whole issue well: the playful style just doesn’t match the rest of the place. Such a wall probably fits very well to the plex — occupying at least 1416sqf! — but on that tiny wall it looks only ridiculous. I understand that the kind of artifacts are an essential part of the culture, but I believe such a culture just cannot live in a place like that. There’s something fundamentally lame in that office! I wouldn’t want to work there. If they needed an R&D-office in Kirkland,
they should’ve just built another, smaller Googleplex with inspiring spaces like the one on the right (click image for more). The magnificient and ingenious makings of the company are nothing but sorry fillarcs on a creamy-white wall. I bet it’s only a matter of time for their apps to start resemble that Kirkland office. (They produce many current apps there; watch the show.)
Hello, Microsoft 2.0, and goodbye! Let’s us else move on. As they could ask, will the next real programmer Shangri-La please stand up? (It’s found within, of course, but a nice environment wouldn’t hurt still.)
Tantek’s new look is great!
Buyaa! Tantek has done some serious work on improving his vlog appearance! :) I guess the former image was a bit monotonic? (On the right below, vlog 10/23.)
The mug, t-shirt and just the single sticker on the cover.

But yay, check out the new much improved look! (Left above, vlog 10/26.) Now we’re talking!! Such a transformation in just three days! :) Tantek must’ve been very busy collecting stickers… (And no, I’m not beeing sarcastic, this is genuine admiration; the picture above is much better!)

Yet here’s the authoritative reference by Robert.
Technorati: Technorati, Vlog, Swag
(PS. What a tuning with the layout!! But now it’s perfect! ‘ ’ still has some use…)
Update 10/29: Corrected the links to vlogs as they we’re mixed up.
This Duo Rocks! (Amongst Other Stuff)
Yesterday, just by a mere accident, we ended up listening Nieminen & Litmanen duo at Korjaamo. (Thanks Aki!) Oh man, that band is just insane! Their stuff works wonderfully on the stage, they are so utterly genuine. And that psychedelic Hammond sound.. But, most of all, it’s the way they can bring it all together!
This was the first time I heard of the band and at the instant it became one of my favorites. I bought the first album, but the latest wasn’t yet available in an electronic format. I urge you to check out the video clips and listen the songs available on their web site! ‘Leo Jokela Rides Again’ is their disco song.. :) Enjoy the groove!
Artw, Fuck You
‘Enterprise 2.0’ was a really good addition to Wikipedia, although only a very fresh stub still. What the fuck did this moron Artw think when he decided to request a speedy deletion on it? Ok, gladly they’re improving it and all this shit will result in a better article. But please, Artw, use a couple of minutes to check who you pissed out. Does it make you want to admit that you’re a donkey-fucking asshole? Drop your 2.0-antagonism and try to really understand the global culture. The issues at hand here are much broader than just a trendy term. However, I wouldn’t place my bets on that your intelligence and self-consciousness are up to understanding any of this.
Update 09/04: Added link.
Update 09/14: Okay, okay!! This wasn’t the most appropriate post, but it’s still just a blog post! I don’t want to make this blog utterly strict! (Ok, some manners wouldn’t hurt.) But, to err is human; and to haste, too. No vain regrets. Past cannot be changed, only learned upon. And anyway, I was probably just shooting the messenger.

I Became a FONero!
Hell yeah! A moment ago a UPS-fellow brought me my FON social router! How nice. Now I’m officially FONero #70870! The setup was brain-dead easy. I just had to take the bill-option, as I want to feel how the economics work. However, I believe no alien will ever use this connection, my location being a bit less than optimal..
Well, actually I had to connect my legacy wireless access point to the FON-router to get myself a crypted connection. No security can be used with the router, which I knew to expect. However, everything works like a charm and I’m very pleased. I also have three ports still available on the router. I’m intending to plug my server to one of those.
The router software felt fine, although it’s pretty simple. The web page however stated that this is the advanced software, so the basic must really match the name. It’s neat to have a linux running the router. I might even consider tweaking it a bit (think XMPP…) But for now it’ll be just standing there, waiting for fellow FONeros.
Ah, there was one humangous disappointment.. the package didn’t contain any stickers! They promised it would contain at least two FON-stickers! I want schwag! Lot’s of schwag! Gimmie stickers!
